At 14:30, 24th of June, the launching ceremony of the HOB (Havard-Oxford-BNUZ) International Youth Leader Development Camp was held at the international center. The program was set up by BUNZ, Harvard University and Oxford University. People who participated in the ceremony include: Professor Marc, the Executive Director of Keble College of University of Oxford, professor Janette from University of Oxford, Prof. Guangju Chen, President of BNUZ, Prof. Ailan Fu, Vice President of BNUZ, Prof. Zhongkui Wu, Vice President of BNUZ, Dr. Wei Dai, Deputy Party Secretary, Dr. Pansy Gan, Director of Office of International Affairs, Shuying Lu, Director of the Office of Public Relation & Media, Shaolin Ning, Director of the Office of Student Affairs, Dr Changyun Kang, International program consultant of the Development Division, Initiator of the HOB program, curriculum development team, Lady Huating Zhou from the education association of the University of Oxford, who is also a reserved talent of UN, and Jonathan Brodie who works in the University of Oxford. The camp members all wore the badge of the program while participating in the ceremony. The presenters are Jiansi Xie from BNUZ and Jennifer from the University of Oxford. Guangming daily and other famous media also made a report about the ceremony.
The ceremony was started with the theme song of the program. President Guangju Chen made a speech about the ceremony. The president expressed warm welcome to the teachers and students from the University of Harvard and the University of Oxford. Prof Guangju Chen said this program aims to use the “invite” mode to invite the overseas teachers and students to come to BNUZ to study, and design the courses in English environment, which could highlight the students’ participation and involvement. This program showed the universities’ characteristic of international cooperation, which encouraged students to study independently. President Chen also hoped that by holding this event, overseas teachers and students could be attracted to interact with our students and further develop this kind of international cooperation.
Professor Marc from the University of Oxford delivered a speech on behalf of the international teachers. He said that as a professor from Oxford, he highly appreciated the international cooperation, the communication of the east and west culture in the HOB program, the model of students design and the courses launching by themselves. He also expressed his wish to future cooperate with BNUZ.
The program member Yanan Wu introduced the idea of the program, including how to set up the concept of course design, the aim, special features and implementation plan. Students from Harvard gave the flag of University of Harvard to the representatives of BUNZ as a gift. Harvard students John and BUNZ student AN QI gave speeches on behalf of each university. They all expressed their willingness to cooperate, study from each other and work hard to accomplish the goal of this program together.
At last, professors from University of Oxford and BUNZ leaders granted the flag together to the HOB members and officially lightened up the program.
The HOB program will be lasted for 4 weeks, including lectures, academic Salon, group discussions, sports and arts activities, etc.
