On June 1st, the 6th Guangdong Provincial Volleyball League for College Students was held in Sun Yat-sen University. BNUZ men’s team, which includes 12 students and led by teacher Wang Jianjun and coach Wang Yueying, participated in the game at the first time.

51 colleges and universities joined in the competition. BNUZ team was in the first D group, together with Jinan University, Shaoguan University, Guangzhou College of South China University of Technology, and Zhuhai College of Jilin University. In the game with Shaoguan University, BNUZ team won the first round with scores of 25 to 14. During the second round, our team had an advanced beginning with 23 to 17, but did not get the chance, then lose with 26 to 28. The third round was extensively fierce. Shaoguan University won the game with luck at the end, and the score was 27 to 25. After 5-day’s competition, BNUZ failed to enter the top 8 unfortunately.

In terms of the first show of BNUZ team in the provincial game, Coach Wang Yueying expressed after the game that, our students had great strengths. In the game with Jinan University who won the second prize last year, our team won the first round with the score of 5 to 0. Besides, all the team members had made great efforts in training within a short period. Their spirit of unity and hard work should be encouraged. However, this was the first time our university joined in the game of provincial level, their experiences were not enough and they had suffered from certain mental stress. The coach hoped that team members could keep on hard training and participate in more games, and receive good results in the next year’s provincial competition.
