From September 30th to October 8th, BNUZ’s delegation visited several universities in UK including University of Oxford, University of Birmingham, University of Gloucestershire, University of Northampton and Anglia Ruskin University and held a discussion with BNUZ alumni who study or work in England.
Members of the delegation include: Dr. Dai Wei, BNUZ’s Vice President; Professor Lan Yu Ping, Assistant to Dean of International Business Faculty and Dr. Gan Chunyan, Director of Office of International Affairs
At the University of Oxford (Oxon.), the delegation met with Dr. Jonathan Black and Dr. Fiona Whitehouse from the Careers Service, University of Oxford. Two students from Oxon. who participated in the International Youth Leadership Program held in BNUZ this year also attended the meeting, giving good feedbacks on the program. Dr. Jonathan Black and Dr. Fiona Whitehouse spoke highly of the project, and said that they would further strengthen their support by providing scholarships for 8-10 students participating in the project next year. Meanwhile, Dr. Dai Wei gave a brief review of this year’s IYLP on behalf of BNUZ and hope that students from Oxford would continue to participate in more cross-cultural communication in future projects.
During the visit at Oxford, the delegation also visited the Hertford College of Oxon. and discussed about the collaboration of summer programs with Mr. Andrew Hemingway, EFL Director of Studies, addressing that the two parties planned to conduct summer programs at Oxford next year.
At the University of Birmingham (UOB), Dr. Dai signed a MOU with UOB’s Vice President Prof. David Eastwood, hoping to achieve more cooperation projects like student or faculty exchanges. In the mean time, the delegation also discussed with Prof. David Dickinson, Chinese Director from Department of Economics of Birmingham Business School and Dr. Kevin Myers associate director of School of Education, University of Birmingham on cooperation of 2+2 credit articulation recognition programs, postgraduate programs, summer programs, and so on.

At the University of Northampton, the delegation met with Dr. Ian Brooks, the university’s Vice President and Dr. Bob Hartley, Executive Dean of Northampton Business School as well as students from BNUZ who currently studied at University of Northampton. The two universities discussed on the 3+1+(1) collaboration program of HR major initiated last year and investigated the current situation of program as well. According to the investigation, 5 of all the program participants from BNUZ chose to study their postgraduate courses, one of who was awarded as Excellent Graduate.
During the visit at University of Gloucestershire and Anglia Ruskin University, the delegation also had discussions with relevant staff, such as Dr. Richard O’Doherty, vice president of University of Gloucestershire and Prof. Alan Sibbald, vice president of Anglia Ruskin University on further cooperation of the Finance 2+2 projects. The delegation pointed out that the range and quality of the cooperation still had potential to improve.
During the visit in the U.K., the delegation totally met with more than 30 alumni who study or work there. Dr. Dai expressed warm greetings and sincere hopes from BNUZ, encouraging the alumni to make full use of the resources of U.K., in the mean time, paying attention to the development of BNUZ and China, as well.
