On the morning of May 18th, the 3rd International Chinese Studies program opening ceremony was successfully held in BNUZ International Center. This year’s ICS program will cover subjects like Chinese language, literature, politics, economy, laws and folk culture, etc. Altogether there are 27 students from Canada, US and China enrolled into this year’s program.

ICS program is one of BNUZ’s featured international programs. Since 2012 when the first ICS program opened for students, BNUZ has been putting more attention and efforts on innovating the international-oriented educational model and cultivating talents with practical skills and global outlook. BNUZ has been cooperating with Acadia University and Saint Mary’s University in Canada for three consecutive years. And every year, ICS is held regularly and taught by famous professors at home and abroad, open to both overseas and Chinese students.

Wang Kaining, student representative from Saint Mary’s University, cited their role as “bridge” connecting two different cultures of Chinese and Canadian. And Yin Li, student of Class 2012 of BNUZ School of Chinese expressed her sincere welcome to the overseas students by quoting a line from Analects of Confucius, “Is it not a delight after all to have friends come from afar!” She also regarded this program as a great opportunity for her to learn more about cultures with her peers but from other places across the globe.

Those who attended the opening ceremony also include Prof. Zhang Mingyuan, Dean of School of Chinese, Prof. Bai Rensi, principal lecturer of ICS from Acadia University, Prof. Bao Fanyu and Prof. Alexander Mcleod from Saint Mary’s University, Ms. Crystal Garrett, hostess of Canada Halifax Global TV, and other BNUZ faculty of related administration offices.
