US National Scholarship Summer Chinese Program for High School Students Held at BNUZ

In the morning of June 30th, the opening ceremony of US National Scholarship Summer Chinese Program for High School Students was successfully held at BNUZ. Prof. Fu Ailan, Vice President of BNUZ, Prof. Zhang Mingyuan, Dean of School of Chinese, and other teachers of the programs attended the ceremony.

On the opening ceremony, Prof. Fu gave a speech in English. She used five “C” teaching principles, that is “communication”, “culture”, “connections”, “comparisons”, and “communities” to explain how to study Chinese.

American students also gave greetings and self-introduction in Chinese. The language partners of the program welcomed their American peers with Chinese traditional art performance, Chinese Zheng solos, Han-clothing show, classic Chinese dances, and diabolo playing and Chinese calligraphy, which won plaudits from all the audiences.

The US National Scholarship Summer Chinese Program for High School Students has been successfully carried out for 4 consecutive years. All the participant American students are US National Scholarship earners. This year witnessed 20 American students’ participation in the program. They will study Chinese at BNUZ from June 30th to August 10th, experiencing and learning Chinese traditional art in person.
