In the afternoon of July 1st, the 3rd International Youth Leadership Program (IYLP) was unveiled at BNUZ’s International Center. Together with 56 participant students, those who attended the opening ceremony include Prof. John L. Holden, Deputy Dean of Yanjing School Beijing Normal University, Prof. Chen Guangju, Vice President of BNU, Dr. Wang Jun, Deputy Director of BNU’s Office of International Exchange and Cooperation, Prof. Tu Qingyun, President of BNUZ, Prof. Fu Ailan, Vice President of BNUZ, Dr. Dai Wei, Deputy Secretary of University Party Committee, as well as other staff in charge of relevant offices.
President Prof. Tu Qingyun, on behalf of BNUZ, extended his warm welcome to students and teachers from home and abroad. He believed that IYLP this year could bring more energy and power to inspire students awareness and potential of international cooperation, which will definitely increase new opportunities for BNUZ to further development. Moreover, he hoped that every young student could make full of his maximum potential and cooperate with each other, so as to achieve fruitful results.
Deputy Dean Prof. Holden encouraged students to take this great opportunity to share and learn from each other, broadening their horizons and exploring globalization effects.
Vice President Prof. Chen Guangju said in a speech that BNU and BNUZ has been exploring more resources in the past years, which has already achieved great results and won recognitions from students, parents and the whole society. The past two sessions of IYLP has been held successfully, which has made great improvement on our cooperation with other universities at home and abroad.
In the opening ceremony, distinguished guests and students representatives together touched the IYLP crystal ball and then Vice President Prof. Fu presented IYLP flag to student representatives, which marked the successful opening of the 3rd IYLP program.
IYLP is initiated by BNU and BNUZ and co-hosted by students from world famous universities like the University of Oxford, the University of Birmingham, and the University of Harvard. As a platform for cross-cultural communication and international cooperation, it aims to cultivates future leaders for the development of the society, the nation and even the human being as a whole. The program usually lasts for 20 days, among which, the first 15 days in Zhuhai and the last 5 days in Beijing. This year, 17 students from the University of Oxford, the University of Birmingham, and the University of Harvard, together with 14 students from BNU and 25 students from BNUZ will attend leadership lectures, make co-operational research, and give result presentations. IYLP has been carried out successfully for two sessions in the past two consecutive years and won great feedbacks from the society and press.
