Recently, the Guangdong Division of the 6th Chinese Mathematics Competitions, and the 4th Guangdong Mathematics Competition for University Students were closed successfully at South China University of Technology. There are altogether 1509 students from universities across the province participated in the competition.
10 BNUZ students participated the competition. Among them, Li Zhiheng from School of Applied Mathematics won the second prize for the Mathematics specialty in this year’s Chinese Mathematics Competitions; Yao Huaiyu, whose major is Statistics, won the first prize for Economics and Management specialty in the Guangdong Mathematics Competition for University Students, while Yang Yanran won the second prize and Liang Jiaxing won the third.
The Chinese Mathematics Competitions (CMC) is one of the top competitions of the national mathematics competitions in undergraduate level. It is divided into Professional Group and the Science and Technology group, aiming to forge a platform for young students to practice their knowledge of Mathematics and for the country to cultivate future talents. Guangdong Mathematics Competition for University Students consisted of Economics and Management Division and Higher Vocational College Division, to encourage students of such educational background to compete with each other in an advanced level.
To be well prepared for the competition, BNUZ held a grand university-level in September this year and appointed two teachers, Gao Wenhua and Duan Wenxi, to provide some training for the participating students.
