On 3rd July, 21 students from School of Applied Mathematics (SAM) started their summer program in Xiamen University. Captained by Mr. Wei Liu and Mr. Jing Chang, they arrived in Xiamen, a beautiful coastal city on the morning of 4th July. Their one-week study has started.

On the afternoon of 4th July, Prof. Jianping Zhu, head of Department of Statistics from School of Economics of Xiamen University, gave a speech on development of XMU; and a lecture on Development of Data Mining and Its’ Relation with Statistics.

On the morning of 5th July, Dr. Yonghong Xu from Department of Statistics gave a lecture on investment and assets allocation. While a lecture on financial management was given by Mr. Li, director of Xiamen Branch of Pingan Insurance.

The students said that by this summer program, their horizon has been widened, and their knowledge has been increased.
