Captained by Prof. Ailan Fu, Vice President of BNUZ, 24 members of BNUZ Staff Advanced Training Delegation arrived and stayed at St Mary’s University (SMU) in Canada, completing the one-week training program during August 13rd – 17th.
The training was themed with “Higher Education Management in Canada”, covering 12 topics, naming University Governance, Facility Management, Fund Raising, Library Management, Academic and Instructional Development, Research Administration, Student Service, Sobey School of Business, Science Faculty, Arts Faculty, HR Management, and Enrolment Service, and all courses were tailor-designed by SMU for BNUZ. Apart from the lectures, BNUZ delegation also conducted delicate tours to the SMU campus, including all key facilities.
During the training period, both institutions held specific sessions for exploring further steps for cooperative education program, and drafting visiting plans for the SMU working groups to BNUZ.
On August 14th, the delegation had been invited to attend the news conference and witness the International Education Strategy Report releasing by the Minister of International Trade and Minister for the Asia-Pacific Gateway. Also, the group visited Halifax city hall and Nova Scotia Government Hall. The Vice Mayor of Halifax met with the BNUZ group as well.
The whole session of this training program had provided all members a golden opportunity of learning differences between Chinese and Canadian Education systems, of exchanging thoughts and ideas about education, of broadening their horizons, and of deepening their understanding about higher education management.
