In the afternoon of May 24th, 2013,upon invitation by BNUZ Soong Ching Ling Education Center on Philanthropy, Prof. Wolfgang Bielefeld, tenured professor at Indiana University, delivered an academic speech for students of first cohort for the major of charity management. The theme for the lecture is social entrepreneurship and social enterprise. Mr. CHENG Gang, president of Foundation Center, Mr. TAO Ze, vice president of Foundation Center accompanied Prof. Wolfgang Bielefeld for the lecture. Participants also include Ms. MIU Li, secretary-general of China Social Welfare Foundation, Mr. JIN Baocheng, director of BNUZ Soong Ching Ling Education Center on Philanthropy.
Professor Bielefeld elaborated features and rules of entrepreneurship in commercial field and social field from macro and micro perspective. Then he analyzed the opportunities and human resources as well as components of social value and explained the interactions and importance. After that, he presented case study about American’s social enterprise model and its running styles. At the end of the lecture, students were given chances to ask questions and Prof. Bielefeld gave detailed and objective answers and actively guided students to in-deepen thinking.
Prof. Bielefeld said often during the lecture that “i really hope that i can hear from you and learn from each other”.The final exchange section also allows students to get rethink about the connection of spiritual core of entrepreneurship and China’s society. Prof. Bielefeld also expressed hopes that students interested in those fields can have more discovery and achievement.
