BNUZ Library Successfully Held Activities for the World Reading Day

In welcoming the 18th World Reading Day, BNUZ library and Ivy Reader Association held series of activities with the theme of Reading to be sensible and uncoiling to be intelligent.

In encouraging reading in the campus, BNUZ library awarded the top 30 students and teachers in adopting documents to be the annual star reader. While at the same time, organizers also invited teaching pacesetters and outstanding new teachers to recommend books to students and show quality collections in the library. Two lectures given by teacher Qi Runxing from the Department of Teaching and Researching in Political Theories and Tian Rong from the School of Chinese received warm welcome of students. The designed activities also included the 3rd Guangdong MyET English Speaking Competition, which was organized by several university libraries in Guangdong.

The most creative and fantastic activity was the micro-fiction competition, which was held in three rounds. In the first round, 107 manuscripts of micro-fiction with less than 140 words were received. After selecting by the judges, 20 of them passed to the second round. The writers were asked to develop their works to short story with 500 to 1000 words. Then 10 of them were elected to the final round. In winning in the finals, the writers were required to show their stories through musical, comedy, original songs, B-box or crosstalk. At the night of April 26, the final competition of micro-fiction was held in Liyun Building. All the participants showed their talents, and received applause from the audiences continuously. The judges were from School of Chinese and the School of Art and Communication. All the scores were given out with commends, and first three prizes were awarded by the judges. Until then, activities for the World Reading Day were successfully completed.
