SGL Faculty Attended International Symposium on Sino-American Comparative Law

From 1st to 7th, May, BNUZ team, including Prof. Yu Fengzheng, dean of School of Government and Law, Associate Prof. Sun Hongyou, director of Department of Anglo-American Law, SGL, was invited to attend the second International Symposium on Sino-American Comparative Law in Oklahoma City University (OCU).

International Symposium on Sino-American Comparative Law is initiated by School of Law of OCU and Law School of Nankai University in 2010. It is held every other year. Associate Prof. Hu Xuemei and Associate Prof. Sun Hongyou attended the first symposium which was held in Nankai University. And then, BNUZ School of Government and Law became one of the main partners of OCU in China.

There are more than 30 scholars attended this symposium, including teachers from Southwest University of Political Science and Law, Zhongnan University of Economics and Law, Law School of Nankai University, Law School of Renmin University of China.

On the evening of 1st May, Law School of OCU held the welcome dinner for the Chinese scholars. Prof. Roberson, president of OCU highly appreciated the first symposium hosted by Nankai University in his opening speech. And he hopes that this symposium, as a platform for educational communication between Chinese and American law experts, promoting the research in related fields and cooperation and mutual understanding, will be hosted every other year. Prof. Hellman, honorary dean of OCU School of Law highly appreciated Associate Prof. Sun Hongyou, director of Department of Anglo-American Law, SGL, for his great dedication in this symposium.

On 2nd, May, this symposium officially opened. After the opening ceremony, thesis seminars were held with different professional themes, including environmental law, legal theory, constitution, criminal law, family law, Chinese legal system. Prof. Yu and Associate Prof. Sun Associate Prof. Zhang Zongqin, Mr. Liu Zhongping and Mr. Wei Zhidong all gave speeches in the seminars. The whole faculty of School of Law in OCU, and some OCU students attended the seminars, alongside with judges of federal court and state court.

After the seminars, BNUZ team visited University of California,Berkeley, Law School of Columbia University, and Law School of New haven, the Yale university.
