In the morning of February 22^nd, Mr. Bao Weize, director of Zhuhai Guyuan Art Museum highly valued the exhibited works of BNUZ students. He said “Beijing Normal University, Zhuhai is one of my favorite universities. I recommend the university to many artists who come to Zhuhai. The design style and educational philosophy of BNUZ are excellent. The School of Design has gathered a group of brilliant teachers, and cultivated many outstanding students. Even though the theme of this exhibition is the about the basics of art, the students’ work has showed great talent and creativity. Thanks BNUZ for providing these outstanding works.” He also expressed that the Guyuan Art Museum will open to more universities in Zhuhai, and introduce more brilliant art exhibitions to the citizens.

This exhibition is organized by BNUZ School of Design, and received great support from Guyuan Art Museum. It is also a conclusion show of the Design Basics course. More than a hundred of hand-painted works have been exhibited, which also showed the school’s emphasis on process evaluation during study.

This is the first time that basic design works of BNUZ students exhibited in the municiple museum. The main aim of the exhibition is to demonstrate the learning results, and at the same time exchanging ideas, gathering thoughts, and exploring teaching methods of design. Through this way, more solid foundation of research and study can be developed, and finally to achieve the goal of cultivating talents for the society.

With nearly ten years of teaching experience, BNUZ School of Design has paid great attention to the cultivation of students’ basic theories and skills, emphasized the experience of design process and the improvement of aesthetic quality, developed students’ awareness of innovation and improved their creativity, and gradually formulated formal, systematic and scientific teaching methods. The course of Design Basics is compulsory for the major of design, including graphic design, color design and three-dimensional design. It mainly focuses on the theories and skills of visual elements’ modeling constitute rules and emotional expression.
