At the night of November 21st, the 10th LiYun English Speech Contest was held in BNUZ LiYun Building. 15 contestants from schools participated for the prizes.
The Dean of School of Foreign Languages Prof. Tao Wenhao mentioned at the beginning, BNUZ English Speech Contest has passed ten years on the basis of joint efforts made by students and teachers from each school. It has created a great platform for students. Through giving speeches in English, not only the students’ interests and ability of speaking English can be improved, but also their overall quality can be developed. In addition, the contest can also show the results of English teaching.
In the sector of speech with given title, 15 contestants talked brilliantly around the topic of reading extensively or intensively. Student Hao Qing from the School of Applied Mathematics said no matter read extensively or intensively, it is better to choose the right way to suit to oneself. Xia Jiaqi from the School of Logistics talked broadly about reading. His fluent English and humor infected the audiences.
In the sector of impromptu speech, students prepared in limited time with provided English proverb. There was no set answers, but required students to think thoroughly and speculatively. Contestant Lin Zhouyi from School of Foreign Languages finally won the first prize with her excellent English background and fluent speech.
The contest was host by BNUZ Youth League and successfully held by the School of Foreign Languages.
