From September 10th to 12th, BNUZ-SMU Program, the Bachelor of Commerce Program with a Major in Finance which jointly established by Beijing Normal University, Zhuhai, China and Saint Mary’s University, Canada, held series of welcome activities for its first session of new students. Attendees included more than a hundred of first session students, representatives and outstanding alumni from both universities.

Meeting of Teachers, Alumni and Representatives from BNUZ and SMU
At 5p.m. on September 10th, the meeting of teachers, alumni and representatives from both universities was held in BNUZ International Exchange Center. Prof. Fu Ailan, the Vice President of BNUZ and the Director of Administrative Committee of BNUZ-SMU Program, Prof. Tao Wenhao, Dean of the School of Foreign Languages, Prof. Zhou Zhiqiang, Director of the Academic Administration Department, Prof. Lan Yuping, Assistant of the Dean in International Business Faculty, 9 program teachers of the next semester, Dr. Patricia Bradshaw, Dean of the Sobey Business School in Saint Marry’s University, Dr. David Wicks, the Academic Supervisor, and Ms.Lois Larson, the Program Manager attended the meeting. Deep Communication was carried out between both sides on teaching plan and requirement of the program.

Excellent alumni from HongKong represented Saint Marry’s University attended the Alumni Meeting. They extended warmly greeting to each other, talking enthusiasmly, sharing excitedly and taking photos together for commemorate.
The Warm Welcome Diner Party
New arrival welcome dinner party was held in BNUZ International Exchange Centre at the night of September 10th. With playing the video of BNUZ image and Sanit Marry’s advertise,the guests were attending. Attendees included Dr. Patricia Bradshaw, Dean of the Sobey Business School in Saint Marry’s University, Dr. David Wicks, the Academic Supervisor, Ms.Lois Larson, the Program Manager, Prof. Fu Ailan, the Vice President of BNUZ, Prof. Liu Songbai, Dean of the International Business Faculty, related representatives, program teachers, as well as the first session program students and their families attended the diner party.

Prof. Fu first made a speech to welcome the new arrival students, and extended her appreciation to the present guests. Prof. Patricia Bradshaw expressed warm welcome to the first session of new students, their families and the SMU HongKong alumni. On the behalf of new students, representative Hui Baorong showed their appreciation to the university, all the teachers and their families.
This is the first time BNUZ welcomes new arrival students and families with dinner party, which helps them to get better understanding on our university and the program. Through this way, students’ confidence on their future study has been built either.
The Program Opening Ceremony
The opening ceremony of BNUZ-SMU Program was held at 2p.m. on September 11th,Prof. Tu Qingyun,the President of BNUZ, Prof. Zhou Zhiqiang, the Director of Academic Administration Department, Prof. Tao Wenhao, Dean of the School of Foreign Languages, Prof. Liu Songbai, Dean of the International Business Faucty, Dr. Patricia Bradshaw, Dean of the Sobey Business School in Saint Marry’s University, and the related representatives who in charge of this program attended the ceremony.

Prof. Tu gave a speech on the behalf of BNUZ. He encouraged the students to study and develop themselves comprehensively. Two student representatives showed their expectation and future plan at this new stage of university life. Prof. Zhou Zhiqiang, Director of the Academic Administration Department, program teacher Chen Xinghuo, and Charlie Samuel Reis also offered speech respectively.
The open ceremony brought great benefits to the first session students. This is also the new beginning of BNUZ-SMU Program. With great wishes and expectation from all the teachers and their families, the students will surely success in fulfilling their future dreams. Sincerely hope they could become the good models for their fellow mentees, and witness the development and success of BNUZ-SMU Program.
