On the afternoon of March 26, the second session of Junior sinology class, also known as Chinese traditional culture class, hosted by Committee of Communist Youth League of School of Chinese, began in the community of Nazhou, Poshi and Shishan. Although the class topics and teaching methods are different among the three communities, lecturers and volunteers keep coming up with new ideas of their teaching methods in order to improve the quality of the class, hoping the children will learn the extensive and profound traditional Chinese culture in a joyful atmosphere.

On March 26, all the staffs of traditional Chinese culture class, including the principal, lecturers and volunteers, arrived at the community service center where the children had been eagerly waiting for their arrival. The principal of the community gave the students a warm welcome and expressed sincere gratitude to them.

In Nazhou community, lecturer Lai Lisha and Zheng Xinyi organized a vivid class for the children by teaching them Chinese calligraphy. What’s more, in order to arouse the interest of the children, Lai designed a traditional Chinese painting class. It not only made the teachers and children closer but also aroused their enthusiasm in participating in class.

In Poshi community, with the theme of philanthropy, the class was given by lecturer Deng Weiling and Liang Jing. In the first class, Lecturer Deng enabled the children to get involved in the class by reading and explaining the sentences in Chinese ancient poetries. The lecturers asked children to look up dictionaries by themselves when studying difficult and unfamiliar characters in order to strengthen their comprehension and cultivate their practical ability. Finally, with the help of the volunteers, children managed to make the pronunciation and meanings of the unfamiliar characters clear. In the second class, Lecturer Liang conveyed the thought of philanthropy by asking questions and answering them herself.

The lecturer of Shishan community told the stories of two loving son, which one lied down on the ice to fetch carp for his stepmother and the other worked as a laborer to support his mother, with a method that is easy to understand. During the break, two teachers played games like “You draw and I guess” and “Hit the drum and pass the flower” with children. The interesting and fulfilling class gave the children a happy and meaningful afternoon.

As the saying goes “To teach is to learn” .Not only the children from the communities benefited a lot but the lecturers and the volunteers gained extraordinary experiences.
