Students from School of Chinese Won Prizes in Zhuhai-Macao Traditional Wushu Tournament

On Nov. 27, 2011, BNUZ Wing Chun Association attended the 6th “Sports Lottery Cup” Zhuhai-Macao Traditional Wushu Tournament hosted by Zhuhai Sports Federation. This is the first time for BNUZ Wing Chun Association to attend this tournament and the participants include Zhang Junzhou, Cai Ruifen, and Ye Zi’en, who are all from School of Chinese, BNUZ. In this tournament, Wing Chun Association got the 2nd prize in the group competition and it is also the first Zhuhai university student group to attend such tournament. Besides, Zhang Junzhou, head of Wing Chun Association, got the 1st prize in the Male Junior Traditional Fist Competition.


The vigorous and energetic performance of the BNUZ Wing Chun Association drew enthusiastic applauses from the audiences. Mr. Jinzhong Liang, deputy chief judge of the tournament, chairman of Zhuhai Wushu Association said:” Though it is the first time for BNUZ Wing Chun Association to participant in such tournament, they got great results. Not only did they demonstrate the spirit of modern university students, but they also promote China’s traditional martial arts”.


When receiving the interview after the competition, Zhang Junzhou told that he loves Chinese traditional culture, especially Chinese traditional martial arts. He also practices several other Chinese traditional martial arts. The aim for him to establish the BNUZ Wing Chun Association is to promote the spirit of Chinese martial arts and to teach basic routine to other people. The association hopes that such practice can build up BNUZ students’ health and train their strength and develop student’s interest to Chinese traditional culture afterwards. At the end, they can help to create an energetic, healthy campus culture.
