In the afternoon of March 4th, BNUZ Youth League, BNUZ Charitable Assistance Committee and Zhuhai Xiangzhou Volunteer Association co-organized a campus tour activity for children of immigrant workers with the theme of “Love and Dream”.

In China, children of immigrant workers are often taken care of by their grandparents but lack of care and education from their parents, since their parents always work in other places and cannot be back home very often. According to the relevant surveys, the quit school rate for children of immigrant workers is comparably higher than other children group. Therefore, it would do those children good by leading them into university life and be together with elder students.

This activity was divided into two parts. The first part was a wonderful performance especially produced by BNUZ students, including members of Nunchaku Association, the China-ROK Cultural Exchange Association, Music Club, Magic Club and Guzheng Club. A girl from Licai Primary School also presented a song named everyday is different for the children. Probably it is the first time she performed in front of so many audiences, so the little girl got nervous and didn’t catch up with the rhythm. Under such circumstance, the whole audiences continually gave her applauses of encouragement and she finally delivered a touching and lovely song.

After the performance, children were volunteered a campus tour in the beautiful campus. They not only appreciated the natural scenery of the campus, but visited several schools and lads. Children are curious and exciting during the whole visiting.

At the end of this volunteer activity, representatives of BNUZ participants said that this activity is perfect in the sense that it not only allows those adorable children to appreciate performance, but got a sense of what university life is like. It will give those children positive motivation to study. Moreover, students are happy and we have fun, too. It would be great to participate into more such volunteer activities.
