On Oct 15th, the first overseas BNUZ Chinese Cultural Centre was established at Instituto Politécnico de Bragança (IPB), Portugal. BNUZ delegation attended the ceremony, including Prof. Ailan Fu, VP of BNUZ, Prof. Mingyuan Zhang, Dean of School of Chinese, and Dr. Can Guo, the Chinese teacher assigned by BNUZ to IPB. Representatives from IPB include: Prof. Joao Sobrinho Teixeira, President of IPB & Chairman of Conselho Coordenador dos Institutos Superiores Politécnicos (CCISP), Prof. Luís S. Pais, VP of IPB, Prof. Anabela Martins, Assistant to President of IPB, Prof. Dina Macias, Prof. Conceição Martins, Dean of Education at IPB, Prof. Luís Pires and many teachers and students. Also, Mr. Rui Caseiro, Mayor of the city of Bragança presented for the ceremony as well.
The event was initiated at 3 pm in the afternoon of Oct.15th by the unveiling ceremony hosted by Prof. Teixeira and Prof. Fu. Then Prof. Fu unlocked the gate of the centre with the key from Mr. President, and welcomed all participants to enter.
IPB provided a suitable space and kinds of facilities for the centre, while BNUZ School of Chinese presented series of books of Chinese languages and culture, also handmade gifts from Chinese students. The centre was filled with friendly Chinese atmosphere around, and attracted strong interests of all participants. A celebration cocktail party was held later as well, with toasts from Mr. President, Prof. Fu, Prof. Zhang and Mr. Mayor. They all expressed their best wishes to the centre, and named the essential significance of the centre to development of cultural exchanges between Portugal and China.
