On November 6th, 2013, Dr. Mika Tirronen, Counsellor (Science and Education) of Embassy of Finland visited BNUZ. Prof. Fu Ailan, Vice President of BNUZ, Prof. Zhang Mingyuan, Dean of School of Chinese, Prof. Wang Weirong, Department Head of School of Education and Dr. Gan Chunyan, Director of Office of International Affairs received the guests at BNUZ International Center.

First, Prof. Fu expressed her warm welcome and introduced the development of BUNZ to Dr. Mika Tirronen on behalf of BNUZ. Dr. Mika Tirronen then illustrated the educational system of Finland, as well as the current cooperation between institutions in Finland and China.

The two sides also discussed in depth on potential collaborations as well as on how to make full use of Finland’s quality education resources. Prof. Wang Weirong made a brief illustration to Dr. Mika Tirronen about International Youth Leadership Program (IYLP), one of BNUZ’s feature programs, as an example of education innovation of BNUZ. Prof. Zhang Mingyuan, Dean of School of Chinese, then concluded BNUZ’s programs on languages and cultural communication, such as Sino-German Chinese and Economics Program for postgraduate students, NSLI-Y China (Zhuhai), International Chinese Studies and so on. He expressed his sincere hope to have more extensive cooperation with universities in Finland and Dr. Mika Tirronen expressed her hope to further the collaborations with BNUZ by various approaches, including academic seminars, etc.

During the visit, Dr. Mika Tirronen visited BNUZ campus and appraised for the beauty of it.
