On June 25th, the 2014 BNUZ Commencement Ceremony was held grandly in the auditorium in BNUZ’s International Center. Distinguished guests who attended the ceremony include President Prof. Tu Qingyun, Prof. Tang Wei, Secretary of University Party Committee, Vice President Prof. Fu Ailan, Vice President Prof. Wu Zhongkui, deans of all schools, faculty and student representatives, and alumni representatives. Parents of some graduates also came all the way from their hometown to attend the ceremony.
This year witnessed 5,535 students graduating, among whom there are 11 overseas students and 57 returned students.
The ceremony began with a speech given by President Prof. Tu. In his speech, he expressed his congratulations to all the graduates and sincere thanks to all the faculties who have made great efforts in the cultivation of students. He said that in the past years, students made great progress both in academic and in ideology. They learned to live independently, to treasure and give, to appreciate and return. In the time of parting, President Tu had three expectations to all the graduates: first, he hoped that all graduates should remember their social responsibilities, brave to undertake responsibilities and never to rest at ease and indulged in pleasure; second, he hoped that all graduates should never stop excelling themselves while sticking to their ideals, beliefs and correct values; third, he hoped that all graduates could come down-to-earth and learn to live life to the full. Last, President Tu said that the alma mater would be always the harbor and supporter in the course of their life and would be always caring, supporting, blessing and welcoming them.
Then, Prof. Wang Weirong, as the faculty representative, Excellent Graduate Li Wenjia, as the graduate representative, Mr. Zhang Wei, as the graduate’s parents representative, and Wu Tiannan, as the alumni representative also gave a speech respectively, expressing their thanks to the alma mater as well as their perceptions about the study and life in the past four years and their planning and wishes to the future.
Last, the 2014 Commencement Ceremony was concluded in the singing of BNUZ’s anthem.
