Vice President of Saint Mary’s University Visited BNUZ

On December 3rd, Prof. David Gauthier, Vice President of Saint Mary’s University, Canada came to visit BNUZ. President Prof. Qingyun Tu, and Vice President Prof. Ailan Fu received him at BNUZ International Center.

In the meeting, both sides reviewed the cooperation in the past years. Prof. Wenhao Tao, on behalf of the Management Committee of BNUZ-SMU Finance Program, introduced to Prof. Summerby-Murray about the enrollment of 2015 and the English teaching so far. Prof. Gauthier expressed his sincere thanks to the efforts that BNUZ has made to run the Program and he said that SMU will also try their best to support this Program. Then both sides had an in-depth discussion on the challenges of the current English teaching and came to several feasible solutions. Next, Prof. Mingyuan Zhang introduced the enrollment of the 2+2 Program on Chinese Education and he also proposed to jointly establish a co-research center by both faculties from BNUZ and SMU so as to encourage more effective teaching and research together. Last, Prof. Gauthier conferred to Prof. Ailan Fu with the appointment letter of emeritus professor at SMU.

On the morning of December 4th, Prof. Gauthier gave a lecture entitled "Features Of University Governance In Canada" for faculty and staff at BNUZ. In the lecture, he explained in detail about the governance system and structure of the university in Canada, and also shared with our faculty about the problems and issues they encountered in the governance. Through this lecture, administrative staff and faculty at BNUZ gained thorough understanding about SMU and its governance system.

During the visit, Prof. Gauthier also met with students of 2+2 program in School of Chinese and students of BNUZ-SMU Finance program.
