An Update for Partnership between St. Mary’s and BNUZ
November 1, 2011Click:

Captained by President Guangju Chen, BNUZ Delegation arrived at St. Mary’s University (SMU) on October 31st, the very first station of their overseas visit to partner universities in Canada and the U.S. They met with senior administration of SMU and discussed plans to expand the cooperation between two universities. An agreement of allowing student exchanges between BNUZ and SMU has been signed as well.

Potential plans were mentioned during the bilateral meeting, including developing an articulation agreement between the Faculty of Science of SMU and School of Information Technology of BNUZ, designing short-term summer programs at SMU for BNUZ students, and strengthening ties between the two business faculties. In the late afternoon, Saint Mary’s President Dr. Colin Dodds hosted a reception for the visiting delegation and the BNUZ students who are currently studying at SMU.

Saint Mary’s University first collaborated with BNU in 1980 through the Canada-China Language and Culture Program. The program offered English and French training in Beijing to Chinese trainees and scholars coming to Canada to study. More recently, an agreement signed in 2010 has allowed a large number of BNUZ students to transfer into the Saint Mary’s University Bachelor of Commerce program.
