July 6th of this year is the 3rd Theme Day of National Voluntary Service of Helping-The-Disabled. On that day, BNUZ School of Chinese and Zhuhai Disabled Persons’ Federation jointly hosted the Sunshine Activity in Haibin Park, inviting the children and their parents who received the aid from the Volunteer Service Association's key project "Happy Growth". 50 volunteers from BNUZ participated in the event. Dr. Qiu Yue, deputy secretary of School of Chinese, Ms. Ma Yibing and Ms. Tan Weifei, instructors of BNUZ Volunteer Service Association also participated in the event.

Dr. QiuYue said that during the past three years, BNUZ Volunteer Service Association had made great efforts in helping the disabled. Seeing the children with disabilities growing up happily is not only a pleasure but also a spiritual uplift.

When the event proceeded to the game part, it began to rain heavily. However, the rain didn't cool down the passion of the children and volunteers. Under the shades began the first game—Standing on the Paper Together. Each group of the children, under the help of the volunteers, managed to remain standing on a small piece of paper for 5 seconds, either each standing with only one leg or all hugging together closely. All the children listened to the instructions, worked together and completed the task successfully. The heavenly joy beat the severe weather back and led the sun out. The whole park was overwhelmed with harmony and happiness. The children and the volunteers played more games such as Two Running with Three Legs and Self-colored Lego.

Among the people, Ms. Wu’s eyes have never left her young daughter, Xueyin, who has hearing impairment. Ms. Wu said “My daughter has received training in the health center for years. She always wishes to live and study like other children. I often take her to such activities where she is able to make more friends. I really appreciate the care and love from the BNUZ Volunteer Service Association to these disabled children.”

Peng Qingfen, volunteer of this event, said that this was the third time she joined the Sunshine Activity. At the first, she did not know how to communicate with disabled children, but after staying with them for a while, she found these children are no different from other children. Just as Dr. Qiu Yue said "children with disabilities is also the future of our country. "
