Nearly a hundred students from six Confucius Institutes (CI of College of William & Mary,US, CI of Tuffs University, US , CI of San Francisco State University, US, CI of University of Manchester, UK, CI of Aalborg University, Denmark,CI of University of Macerata, Italy)visited BNUZ during summer holiday for a summer campus programme of the Confucius Institute. This is a joint programme delivered by Beijing Normal University and Beijing Normal University, Zhuhai. Students firstly stayed in Beijing for two weeks, then came to Zhuhai for a 3-day study visit.
During the 3-day study visit in Zhuhai, students from Confucius Institute had lecture of the Culture of south China, Cantonese lessons, study visit to Hengqing new district and Qi’ao Island, which gave them a general picture of the culture of south China, as well as giving them a chance to explored how China has developed in recent years.
This programme provides students a chance to know the differences between the south and the north of China, and experience both traditional and modern Chinese culture. The students felt very impressed with the development of Zhuhai, and some student even expressed that they might want to do long term study in BNUZ.
This is the first time that BNUZ has held the programme, so students also provided some suggestions for next time, such as visiting more historical places, and try to shorten the trip on the bus. All their suggestions are of course very important for the future development of this programme
