Briefing Session: 2014 SMU-Acadia Summer Program

In the evening of March 27th, the briefing session of 2014 SMU-Acadia Summer Program was held in Liyun Building. Prof. Fu Ailan, Vice President of BNUZ, together with Dr. David Gauthier, Vice President of SMU and Mr. Bill Bu, Representative of Canada Summer Program attended the meeting. The briefing session is chaired by Dr. Gan Chunyan, Director of Office of International Exchange and Cooperation.

First, Prof. Fu Ailan delivered an opening speech. She introduced the 11-year-long cooperation between BNUZ and SMU, the 2+2 Program, International Chinese Study, international students and faculty training programs carried out between both the universities. She also pointed out the great importance the heads of SMU and Acadia University have attached to the summer program with our university. Until now, there are in total over 100 students who participated in this program and received fruitful results. The SMU-Acadia Summer Program has already become a key program in our overseas summer program.

Dr. David Gauthier, Vice President of SMU also gave a warm introduction about the teaching, learning and life in SMU, Halifax. He stressed that BNUZ is their most important cooperative partner in China. He said that this year SMU will allocate more academic resources on the teaching in Summer Program to welcome more students to study and communicate in SMU.

Last, Mr. Bill Bu gave a detailed introduction about the Summer Program in the past two years.

It is said that Prof. Bob Perrins, Dean of School of Arts at Acadia University will come to China to teach in the International Chinese Program and he will also meet the participant students in Summer Program as well.
